Allie & Kurt’s late fall wedding day up in northern Minnesota took place at Pine Peaks Wedding & Event Center in Pine River! All the fall leaves were still in full color and it created a stunning setting! There was a campfire burning for guests to keep warm and it felt so cozy! One of the cool things with this venues is the families get the large log home to stay in and get ready at! When I arrived in the morning, the groom and groomsmen were playing chess around the table and the ladies were getting their hair and makeup done in their flannels! I took some time to document their special attire items and there where so many cool things to photograph! Allie’s dress from The Wedding Shoppe was absolutely stunning and had this vintage vibe that was so awesome! Love the lace pattern! Kurt had a special pocketknife that he and his dad had made themselves! Then as I started to take photos of his tie and pocket square I instantly noticed it was a topographical map of something! I asked Kurt and he told he is was a map of the exact location their love story started in Duluth! Now that’s cool!
After Allie’s hair & makeup was finished up by Bliss Salon and Boutique and her gold leaf headpiece was put on, it was time to put on her dress! Her maid of honor helped her into it and her mom helped with her jewelry! All the ladies piled on the bed and did a quick first look with Allie! Tears were shed! Then one of my favorite moments from the day happened. Allie opened her letter! Kurt wrote the most meaningful letter of his life to his bride and he touched her greatly! I then went downstairs to where Kurt’s dad was helping Kurt get ready and tie his tie! He even brought a wrench in case he needed it! 🙂 Once Kurt was in his striking navy suit from Men’s Wearhouse, it was time for his letter reading! These two are so sweet and their letters showed that! Then it was time for their first look!
Everyone was watching way up from the house to see their first look! Allie tapped Kurt on the shoulder and when he turned around, he was awestruck! Such a sweet moment! We did some couples photos and added their sweet pup in for some! So much fun including their fur baby! We did wedding party photos and had a blast with the crew! After family photos it was almost time for the ceremony but Allie had a surprise she wanted to give to Kurt! We went out on the porch of the house where Kurt unwrapped a quilt that Allie had been working super hard on!
Guests began to arrive and warm up by the fire! Once everyone arrived, they were all seated in the beautiful outdoor ceremony space! Their ceremony took place as the winds whistled through the pines! They did a Celtic handfasting ceremony and were pronounced husband and wife! At the social hour guests ordered beverages, had Hors D’oeuvres, and had little bags of different flavored popcorn to snack on. There was also a voicemail guestbook for guests to record messages on! Super fun idea!
A dinner buffet was served and guests enjoyed cupcakes! The reception had a gaming theme and their favorite vintage games were incorporated into the seating chart, the cake topper, and the table numbers! Love it when couples personalize their decor! After their first dances, the couple did something super fun instead of doing a dollar dance! The maid of honor and the best man went around with boxes asking people to donate to the box of either Allie or Kurt, depending on who they thought would one a one game video game challenge! Controllers where then connected to a projector where everyone watched Allie beat Kurt! This was a super fun idea!
Just before I left, I snuck the couple out for a few night photos! What a perfect way to the this amazing wedding day! Congrats Allie & Kurt!
